“Taller de Investigación Aplicada EA-USAT” is a workshop proposed initially for a three years trial period that focus on the Chiclayo outlying urban settlements (Puerto Eten, Ciudad Eten, Monsefú, Reque, Santa Rosa, Pimentel, San José, Lambayeque, Morrope).
The main objective is to concentrate the efforts and resources of the academic community to get real and specific proposals for a real place with its real issues.
The first month of each semester all the students and faculty will move to the case-study town. The workshop involves students from first to fifth year, who will work together in mixed and collaborative groups. After this work on site, all the syllabus of the different subjects of each year shall be modified involving the community issues in their contents.
Nevertheless this workshop will not end at School, but it is oriented to the development of the proposals in a near future. To that end the information obtained, after being checked by the faculty, will be transferred to the local community, so that in a second phase they could carry out the workshop ideas and reinforce the problem-solving capacity of the communities organizing the local development processes.
